Timemax Privacy Policy
Last Updated: April 16, 2026
Timemax Shoppers Limited ("Timemax," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Timemax mobile application (the "App") and the timemax.app website. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our App to request or fulfill personal shopping and delivery services in Zambia.
Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using the App, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions described herein.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information that identifies, relates to, describes, or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly, with a particular consumer or device ("Personal Data").
A. Information You Provide to Us:
- Account Information: When you register as a Customer or a Shopper, we collect your full name, email address, phone number, and password.
- Shopper Verification Data (Shoppers Only): To verify our workforce, we collect National Registration Card (NRC) details, profile photos/selfies, and vehicle information (if applicable).
- Order Details: Information regarding the items you wish to purchase, store preferences, and delivery instructions.
- Communications: Any messages you send through our in-app chat or to our customer support team.
B. Information Collected Automatically:
Location Data:
- Customers: We collect your precise or approximate location when you open the App to facilitate delivery routing.
- Shoppers: We collect your precise, real-time location (background and foreground) when your status is set to "Online" or when you are actively fulfilling an order. This is essential for matching you with nearby orders, tracking order progress, and ensuring trust and safety on the platform.
Other Automatic Collection:
- Device Information: We collect information about your mobile device, including the hardware model, operating system, unique device identifiers, and mobile network information.
- Usage Data: We automatically log your activity within the App, such as the pages you view, access times, and the buttons you click.
C. Payment Information:
We do not directly collect or store full credit card numbers or mobile money PINs. All financial transactions (deposits and withdrawals) are processed securely by our third-party payment gateway partner (e.g., Lenco). We only store transaction records, wallet balances, and your registered mobile money number for payout purposes.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To Provide the Service: Connecting Customers with Shoppers, processing orders, facilitating payments, and enabling delivery.
- To Improve the App: Analyzing usage trends to fix bugs, optimize the user interface, and develop new features (e.g., suggesting popular items based on aggregated data).
- For Communication: Sending you transactional notifications (e.g., order updates, payment confirmations) and promotional offers (if you have opted in).
- For Safety and Security: Verifying the identity of our Shoppers, monitoring for fraudulent activity, and resolving disputes between users.
- For Legal Compliance: Complying with applicable Zambian laws, regulations, and legal processes (such as ZICTA regulations).
3. How We Share Your Information
We only share your information in the following circumstances:
Between Users (Customers and Shoppers):
To fulfill an order, we share the Customer's delivery address and order details with the assigned Shopper. We share the Shopper's first name, photo, and real-time location with the Customer while the order is active. We do not share full names or personal phone numbers directly; all communication occurs via the secure in-app chat.
With Service Providers:
We share necessary data with third-party vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as:
- Payment processors (e.g., Lenco) to handle wallet transactions.
- Cloud hosting providers (e.g., Google Firebase) to store data securely.
- Third-party courier companies (only the delivery address and contact name, if a third-party courier is used for the final mile).
- SMS and Email providers (e.g., Africa's Talking, SendGrid) to send you notifications.
For Legal Reasons:
We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, court order, or government request in Zambia, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Timemax, our users, or the public.
Business Transfers:
If Timemax is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Data Retention and Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures (including encryption and secure servers via Google Firebase) to protect your Personal Data against unauthorized access, loss, or alteration.
We retain your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, or as required by Zambian law. If you delete your account, we will securely delete or anonymize your data, except where we are legally required to retain certain transaction records.
5. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction and applicable laws, you may have the right to:
- Access the Personal Data we hold about you.
- Request the correction of inaccurate data.
- Request the deletion of your account and all associated data (see Delete My Account).
- Request deletion of specific data without deleting your account (see Delete My Data).
- Opt-out of receiving promotional marketing communications.
You can manage your profile details and notification preferences directly within the Timemax App settings.
6. Children's Privacy
The Timemax App is not intended for use by children under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will take steps to delete such information immediately.
7. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
8. Delete My Account
You have the right to request deletion of your Timemax account and all associated personal data. This is a permanent action that cannot be undone.
What happens: When you request account deletion, we will permanently delete your account, username, password, profile information, personal data (name, email, phone, preferences), and anonymize your location history. However, transaction records and payment history will be retained for 7 years as required by Zambian law.
Processing time: Your request will be processed within 30 days. You will receive a confirmation email.
9. Delete My Data
If you prefer to keep your account active but want to delete some or all of your personal data, you can submit a data deletion request without deleting your account entirely.
What you can delete: Profile information (photo, bio, preferences), location history, chat messages and communications, and device information.
